(KJV)Learned something new in church yesterday. There are multiple meanings to the subject commandment. In addition to forbidding use of the name of God or Jesus as a curse word/phrase it forbids swearing an oath by God and not meaning it and also forbids claiming to be a Christian but not living like a Christian.
I guess I have a few planks in my eyes after all.
(Matthew 9, Mark 2, Luke 5). Some Bible teachers in the crowd were thinking Jesus' was speaking blasphemy when He said "Your sins are forgiven" because only God can forgive sins. So Jesus asked them which is easier; to say your sins are forgiven, or to say get up and walk ? Thanks to Pastor Steve at church a few weeks ago I now understand his question better. The Bible Teachers thought they were better than Jesus but he attacked their pride by asking them which was easier. You see they could not heal the man nor could they forgive sins and if Jesus was a lesser man than He would not be able to either . But He proved that He was not a lesser man because He could both forgive and heal. When the paralyzed man got up and walked it was proof that Jesus had authority to forgive sins on earth (because He is God). Thus he chastised the Bible teachers for thinking they were all that and a six pack.
God could have built it Himself. Here is a possibility. Knowing the people had brought other gods with them from Egypt God wanted his chosen people to focus on Him so He could bless them more. So He had them donate their treasures (those who had it in their heart to do so). He had them take those treasures and make a tabernacle where He would meet with them. And where their treasure was their heart would be also. Making an ornate and expensive cathedral is not to impress God or to attempt to glorify Him with physical stuff but by giving of their treasures the people would no longer need to be worried about hanging on to that stuff. Always trying to make sure their treasure was safe and secure from loss, damage, or theft. Once they gave it away they could still enjoy the sight of it whenever they came near to God and hopefully come to realize that God is even more valuable than the treasure had been to them.Walter Mittyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12367621177991951161noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1263772173321326667.post-16717669972537329922013-07-04T08:42:00.001-04:002013-07-04T08:42:38.434-04:00Obey the Law unless that causes us to dis-obey God.Was God telling Moses to be deceptive to pharoah by saying they were going to sacrifice instead of saying they were leaving. Was God telling Samuel to be deceptive when he went to annoint David and let Saul think he was just going to sacrifice ?

They did go and sacrifice but they also did the hidden agenda. Moses and Samuel also knew more of God's plan beyond Moses' and Samuel's involvement in it. Moses and Samuel told the truth but they did not share everything they knew with the king. They were being loyal to God but dis-loyal to the Kings.
Is it Okay with God for us to decieve the government? Is there a difference between lies by commission and lies by ommision? What about people who sneak Bibles into certain countries and share the gospel there. At what point do we violate our nations laws that we disagree with because of our Christian world view?

God told Moses that God will bring His people up out of Egypt and into the promissed land (Exodus 3:8)
He told Moses "you may bring my people out of Eqypt" (Exodus 3:0). Notice that He did not tell Moses that Moses would bring the people into the promised land.

Say to the king of Egypt "let us go three days into the wilderness so that we may sacrifice to the Lord our God" (Ex 3:18)

Moses and Aaron say "God says 'Let my people go that they may celebrate a feast to me in the wilderness'" (Ex 5:1) "Let us go 3 days journey into the wilderness tha twe may sacrifice to the Lord our God" (Ex 5:3)

Then they set out and camped on the edge of the wilderness (Ex 13:20). They went 3 days into the wilderness (Ex 15:20) The people grumbled for lack of good water (Ex 15:24), God made the water sweet (Ex15:25). They came to a place with 12 springs and 70 date palms (Ex 15:27). They set out again (Ex 16:1) they grumbled about lack of bread and meat. (ex 16:2-3). God gave them qauils and manna (Ex 16). God commanded them to take a sabboth rest every 7th day (Ex 16:29).

God sent Samuel to annoint David as King. Samuel was afraid of what Saul would do if he knew. God told Samuel "Take a heifer with you and say "I have come to sacrifice to the Lord" Samuel did as the Lord said. He Annointed David before they ate the sacrificed heifer (1 Samuel 16)
You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’

After Paul had seen heaven he spent the rest of his life serving and witnessing for Jesus. After Job saw God face to face he was greatly humbled. You see the reality of what it is like to be in heaven and to meet God is so much greater than we imagine that it is life changing. Job after he had suffered was given twice as much prosperity as had been taken from him but I believe that in heaven the blessing will be even greater. He had been faithfull over a little but even doubling all his wealth was very little from God's perspective. When job is put in charge of many things .... well we can't fathom what that will be like but isn't it a joy to think about how great it will be to be with God in heaven.
Did not get all the required paperwork until mid March.

Filed 4 W2's
1040
Schedules A, D, E
Forms 8949, 8917, 8283
Used Turbo Tax. Saved $600 over the cost of having it done by a local tax franchise.

Tax code is too complicated. Even the IRS workers don't know the answers. I've found that If I request an answer and they give me one I don't like I just ask the question again to a different agent and I get a different answer. I keep a record of the answer I like in case I get audited.

I have been audited twice. Now I send explanitory notes when I do something uncommon. So they have not questioned me in over a decade. Maybe it had something to do with me CC'ng my congressman last time (after trying 6 or 8 times to communicate with the IRS and getting the same run around and threats from them. They wanted be to explain it all in court in Washington DC when I lived in Texas. That final letter where I cc'd my congressman got there attention and they settled the account and gave me back the money they overcharged me.

The reason the tax code is so complicated is because laws get passed with tax implications but the people who pass the law don't understand or care what it does to the tax regulations. The details of forms and how to pay are then written by some staffers at an agency who are only focused on their current project and don't have the time, power, or inclination to simplify the whole code. Ideally congress would pass a bill to simplify the tax code. and eliminate a lot of special interest execptions and deductions. Congress will not do that because if the tax code was as simple as it should be a whole lot of tax prep companies would suffer financial ruin.

Also each individual deduction or loophole has somebody who will pay a lot of money to keep that item in the law so they can benifit from it. (paying a lot of money means congressmen will be persuaded to vote in a manner that is not in the best interest of the country.)

I did send in a 4 digit check with my state tax return. But I will get some of my federal withholding back thanks to my deductions.

I always send my returns by certified mail because one year one of the states I file in never got my return. I figured it out when they did not cash my check. So I sent them another check. They charged me a penalty for late filig but I was able to get that back by fiing a claim pleading for mercy since I did send the check in February and don't know why they never got it.

Well all this has been quite taxing and I'm glad to have completed it for the year.
Usually dollar cost averaging gives you a better rate of return at the end of the year than just putting your yearly investment into the fund at the beggining of the year. thats because when prices are low you can buy more shares per hundred dollars and when prices are high you will buy less with that 100 dollars. But if prices are higher at the end of the year then they are at the beggining of the year (Stocks are usually higher overall 3 years out of 4). and if your alternate use of the funds is earning you less than the cheapest return during the year then you should invest as much as you can as early in the year as you can if you think prices will be higher at the end of the year. This may reduce your annual return percent but increase your annual return in dollars because 12 months at 2 percent return beats one month of 5 percent return (especially if compounded). So get the money out of your bank account that is earning less than 1 percent interest and put it in your retirement fund or goal fund in stocks or bonds. This does not apply to money needed to repay debt or money you need to be liquid for upcomming expenses or emergancy

It's been about 7 months since I've posted. Mostly because I seldom get on my own computer. I don't like it to type on because the keyboard is not what I'm used to. and it does not have a 10 key number pad off to the right. I earn my living by keypunching numbers so I use that a lot. When I log on someone else's computer I don't want to log them out of their google account to log into mine. That would cause them to have to log back in. So this is the first time I've accessed my own blog since last July.
In a few days Google impliments it's new privacy policy. That's when they start tracking all your info and crossing it over from one thing to another (android, youtube, gmail, blogger, etc.) I don't like that. I'm not the same person when I write for this audience as when I view a video or send a text on the phone. I don't want to share everything I look at with my audience. What if I were researching jewlry just before valentine's day and an ad pop's up on my phone or computer that I share with my significant other. A little disapointment when she finds out it wasn't for her or that I chose something else instead. I already know they don't quite get who I am because I get ads promising me a hot blond American girl who can help me get a green card. That's what I get for logging on to American websites from other countries. Do you know that when I try to log on to google.com to do a search it forces me to the japanese version of google. I hate reading instructions in Japanese. It sometimes takes so long to find the language switch button that I give up. and while I'm ranting just let me add that I'm not listening to the radio because my made in China boombox only powers up when it wants to.Walter Mittyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12367621177991951161noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1263772173321326667.post-65938041619119965202011-07-26T06:59:00.002-04:002011-07-26T07:07:23.139-04:00We do nothing but complain that nothing is being done.Congress is responsible for the current debt ceiling crises. They make the laws concerning how much the government spends. They are responsible to ensure the money is there to pay the bills. If America wants big governement they will continue to elect democrats and republicans to office. The Democrats will tax and spend. The Republicans will borrow and spend. Once a program is in place it is nearly impossible to end it. We the people are really to blame for this mess our country is in. Most of the people don' t even pay attention to politics. They don't know what the problems are and they don't know what the solutions are. But the folks who vote feel patriotic for doing so and they don't even know what the repercussions are. And they don't care. There are more important things for them to be concerned about. They elect people to take care of goverment stuff so they don't have to. So it is up to the few informed concerned citizens to take control of this situation. It is up to us to inform the masses of the consequences of elections. Our greatest enemy is going to ruin our great country and that is the ignorance and apathy of the people who stand by while power loving politicians do us great harm. It is not time to pay the piper yet. You soon will see that the current crises will pass by with hardly a notice. It will be business as usual in Washington and the minions will go back to their daily chores.Walter Mittyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12367621177991951161noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1263772173321326667.post-90384483607840110312011-06-17T06:41:00.003-04:002011-06-17T06:48:38.032-04:00Michele BachmannPaul told Timothy that he does not allow a woman to have authority over man. They have righteous and loving ways and good family values but I don't think there God is the creator of the world. They have a different God. They have been fooled and are lost. I don't want that to spread.Walter Mittyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12367621177991951161noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1263772173321326667.post-28581093951708607332011-04-23T18:33:00.002-04:002013-08-04T15:13:54.805-04:00Too Many Email AddressI have to have a Gmail address to use this blog. I don't use that email address for anything else. I don't know if I have any mail on it or not.
I have another Email address attached to my ISP. I used to have to log on there to get my monthly bills. I had to use Microsoft Outlook for that Email address. They would also send me an email whenever the ISP was offline but I couldn't read those emails until they got back online. So I never know if its a problem with my computer or that the ISP is offline. I quit checking that Email account when I set up automatic billing at the ISP. Now my Credit card is charged each month. I have a yahoo email address I use when I don't want to stay in touch. For example If I want to email a newspaper article I plug in that email address and then go there to get the article and forward it to whom I want it to go. I know by plugging in my real email address on those websites I'll start getting spam email. I use it when I take a quiz or something online and need to plug in an email address to get results. I get plenty of spam email on my yahoo account. That's why I have it. I have a few other memberships on line that come with email accounts that I never use. Then I have my work email account at work and then I have a secret email at work that is more secure. and a tactical email at work for when we are doing training on a localized network. And then I have another secret email at work that is secure but allows us to share info with a specific other bunch of people that we want to share secrets with but not all our secrets. These work emails I have to log into every month whether I want to or not otherwise my account will be suspended. And I have to do regular password changes. I have a bunch of accounts that need passwords other than email so I have about several dozen passwords to remember. I have a secret system for remembering them and for keeping them strong. And then I have my regular everyday email account that I check morning noon and night.Walter Mittyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12367621177991951161noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1263772173321326667.post-24367727968562685962011-04-18T06:35:00.003-04:002011-04-18T06:46:30.862-04:00Pet store conspiracyFor those who have a fish aquarium at home here is a tip that will save you money. I know it's only a couple of bucks every few weeks when you go buy some more fish to replace the ones that have died but I've recently learned a trick that will make them live a lot longer. The pet stores don't want you to know this because they make a lot of money selling cheep things over and over. It's called planned obsolesence. Most companies don't make products as well as they could because once the market is saturated with a good product there is no need to replace it and the company goes out of business. The trick to making your car last longer is to change the oil every 6 months or more often. The trick to making your store bought fish may seem wasteful at first because you throw away the mini habitat. That's right. You open the bag and put the fish in a bowl or tank of water. They live a lot longer when they are allowed to swim freely and the air can circulate above the water. I know the fish stores are conspiring to shorten the life of fish by putting them in small bags of water. They all do it. And when you confront them about it they laugh at you like you are crazy. But really if you try it you will see. The fish won't die if you let them out of the bag into a bigger place. Try it. Have you not seen the aquariums at the fish store? Notice how the fish are already not in bags? That just goes to prove that they know the secret to making fish live for months and even years. But when you go to buy a fish you will notice they always pack it in a small clear plastic bag. But now that you know the secret you won't have to buy so many fish and that saves money.Walter Mittyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12367621177991951161noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1263772173321326667.post-14635461943559574292011-04-16T05:13:00.000-04:002011-04-16T05:14:54.427-04:00Transfer of wealth. So we prepaid for 2 of us to each get a 1 hour massage. There for the proof is left up to each voter. When the voter is convinced that a person is eligible to be president he may or may not vote for the that person. Every voter who is not convinced that the person running for office is an American citizen has the right to not vote for that person for that reason alone. When the majority of voters decide a person is eligible and they vote for him that is all the proof required that he is eligible to be president. If something happens later and the voters decide he wasn't eligible after all they can get him replaced in short order. If it's good enough for the majority of voters it's good enough for me. If there is a lot of doubt about a persons birth or citizenship it behooves the person running to prove where he was born if he thinks it will favor him in the election outcome. The truth of where he was born is not as important as what the majority of voters believe.Walter Mittyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12367621177991951161noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1263772173321326667.post-39793675584854927522011-04-15T19:56:00.002-04:002011-04-15T19:59:26.933-04:00High pitched admenI've noticed a lot of ads on the radio are speeded up to where the man's voice is a higher pitch than normal. I don't know if they do this to put more words in the time slot or if they do it just to be annoying. I studied in Marketing classes back in 1978 that when ads are annoying they get noticed and the person listening things about the message more often than a pleasant ad that he doesn't pay attention to. I don't like it but I understand it.Walter Mittyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12367621177991951161noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1263772173321326667.post-91311118901523507982011-04-10T04:39:00.006-04:002011-04-10T04:48:50.526-04:00We don't all think alike and never will. After listening to a lot of talk radio and reading comments on-line, I've noticed a lot of difference in what people believe are the facts. There are different world views. I don' t see any way possible to reconcile all the differences. People just don't think alike. They won't ever come to complete agreement. I used to think that if people with opposite opinions would come together and have a rational discussion and had the time and other resources to research all the facts that even if they came to different opinions they would at least agree on the facts. Now I don' t believe that is possible. A lot of people are confused and belive things that are just not true. Even the facts won't convince them. Either they won't believe the facts are true or they will percieve a different meaning for the facts. I can no longer say that we all want the same things we just have a different idea of how to get there. That doesn't always hold true.Walter Mittyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12367621177991951161noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1263772173321326667.post-14649832882705657152011-04-09T07:14:00.003-04:002011-04-09T07:17:34.013-04:00Tax dollars and planned parenthood.Planned Parenthood. The spend about a million dollars a day of government money but neither they nor anyone in the government know how much money planned parenthood gets from the federal government nor what the money is spent on. We do know however that planned parenthood donated several hundred thousand dollars to democrat campaign funds. No wonder the Democrats are so adamant about keeping planned parenthood funded.Walter Mittyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12367621177991951161noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1263772173321326667.post-60947626320059959282011-04-03T02:31:00.004-04:002011-04-03T02:42:04.850-04:00Welcoming but not affirmingSome Christian Churches claim to be welcoming and affirming. I guess they are saying all are welcome and that homosexual activity is not something to be ashamed of. I don't understand the thought process behind that. The way I understand the bible, going after the wrong flesh like that is a sin. A forgivable sin but nevertheless a sin and not to be encouraged. I'm all in favor of welcoming everyone into the church but not to encourage them to continue living a life of sin. I guess Satan is alive and well in the churches of America and glad to see those who profess Jesus as savior fail to obey Him. A lot of people are going to be in for a huge wake up call come the judgement day.Walter Mittyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12367621177991951161noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1263772173321326667.post-15639308648959962682011-03-27T17:44:00.003-04:002011-03-27T17:57:18.192-04:00Voter IDLiberals are up in arms because so many states with Republican majorities are passing laws requiring Voters to prove who they are with photo ID Cards. Which people are more likely to not already have an ID card and would face hardship in getting one? Unemployed, Uneducated, Drug addicts, Handicapped, Poor, Dead, fictitious, elderly, underage, illegal immigrants, fraudsters voting under more than one name - Clearly these people usually vote for the democrat that's why the democrats are upset. the extra cost and effort to get an id card would keep many of these people from voting. Even those who can manage the transportation and paperwork to apply for welfare benifits and those who get a ride to the polls would not want to go get a photo ID card especially if it meant they had to take time off work at a pay loss and pay someone to get them to the DMV. Now I would be happy to pay a little more for my driver's liscence to allow all these to get a free ID card. I wouldn't want anyone to be excluded from voting becuase they could not afford an ID card. I would think the democrats who drive them to the poles would volunteer to drive them to the DMV. Maybe even pay them 20 dollars to make up for their lost wages.Walter Mittyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12367621177991951161noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1263772173321326667.post-89066256969262440792011-03-25T22:41:00.004-04:002011-03-25T22:46:48.179-04:00How much you save for retirement is more important than how you allocate it.If your income keeps pace with inflation and you save 20 percent of your income for 40 years you will have enough to live on for the next 30 years. If you only plan to save for 30 years you need to save more than 20 Percent.
Notice how most of your retirement account growth comes not from the income earning but from the additional savings added (for most people this lasts for decades). That goes to show you that chasing the latest fad in investments is not what gets you to financial freedom but rather saving a portion of your income. Always live beneath your means.Walter Mittyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12367621177991951161noreply@blogger.com1
