Rebuilding the walls.

I was upset when I heard that my old neighborhood had been destroyed. My boss asked me what was wrong so I told him. He told me to go back to my old town and do what I can to fix it. He even gave me the money to do it. So I went and saw all the destruction. The walls around the community were broken down and the gates were burned. We had to fix the walls first and put up new gates before we could do much with the houses and the community center because we didn't want the bad guys to come break in again. So I gathered up some men who worked on fixing the walls while i walked around and supervised. They mostly were working on the sections in front of their own houses. We got a few complaints from the neighbors but we kept working on it. They reported us to the city but we had all our permits so there was nothing they could do to stop us. When we got the wall built all around to half the original height we started getting threats so the workers started carrying big knives to work. We set up a guard to keep watch 24/7. The workers were afraid but I told them to quit worrying and I let half of them stand guard with weapons while the other half worked on the wall. We spent the nights within the walls and didn't even take our clothes off when we slept in case we got attacked.
Many of the workers were going broke and had to put a second mortgage on their homes. But I had a talk with the bankers and reminded them that the wall being built was a benefit to them too so they lowered the interest rates.
