Yesterday I was driving south on Highway 95 towing nothing I own behind my minivan. Listening to the radio, I caught a story about a 40th aniversary celebration of a church or a ministry or something. They were saying that they were successful in part because of some non negotiable rules they set up when they started the ministry. Among those was that the weekly Sunday morning church service was intended not for seekers but only for believers. They were to gather each week to worship God, to encourage one another and to equip the members to go out and save lost souls. Non Christian visitors were welcome to the services but the church service was not intended to share the gospel to the lost. That job was to be done one on one by each member of the congregation. I would have like to hear more but I drove out of range. It gave me pause to think about the different church services I've been to. I wonder what it would be like to be a part of a church where each member was intent on fulfilling the great commission.
