Oil Spill Containment

There is a big oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Should not have been such a big problem. BP has people trained to contain oil spills in the ocean. Unfortunatly they did not let those folks do thier jobs. They let the esteemed drillers do it instead. Unfortunatly the esteemed drillers may be good at drilling but they do not have the training or experience in cleaning up. So instead of putting the booms in a double row zig zag fasion to move the oil to where they could suck it up into tankers they made a single straight line with the booms which allows the oil to go over and under the booms. Totally useless that way. Now the President has said that the federal government was in charge of the cleanup from day one. That explains why it is a bigger mess now than it was then. Perhaps they wanted it this way. An excuse to curtail drilling as an appeal to the environmentalist who can say "told you so". Booms are cheep. They should have had then in storage in every coastal state - enough to cover the whole coast line. And they (BP) should have one office to call in case of emergency. The spill crew should take care of all spills and get continuous on the job training (it only takes a 2 week class to learn this job).
And why doesn't the coast guard know how to clean up oil? (just in case).
So now we have a big mess both environmentally and economically. Let's use this as a learning experience shall we. You know there is going to be another big spill in the future. Before the Oil Companies get permission to drill on public land they should prove they are prepared to handle a serious situation.
