Are Muslims the enemy?

There is great debate over whether or not a Muslim Mosque should be built near the spot where Islamic Terrorists (Muslims) attacked America in 2001. The specific location of a mosque should not be up for debate as much as the question of whether or not Muslims are to be accepted at all in America. Does their religion require them to destroy all non Muslims or does it not? If not than we should accept them as we do all other religions in America but if their religious convictions require them to do all they can thru violence or deception to take control of our country than we should investigate and eliminate every threat to the safety and well being of our fellow Americans. The Muslims themselves need to convince us that they mean us no harm. I put the onus on them because the historical record of attacks by Muslims against America is extensive. More terrorists have attacked claiming an Islamic religous purpose than any other reason. If the Muslims mean us no harm but merely want to build a community center or mosque or whatever in New York where they have found a suitable property than the government should not interfere with their right to build any more than they interfer with any other group's building (building permits, safety inspections etc.) Leave it up to the property owners to decide their own best interests in their building plans.

Of course, Islam has been around a lot longer than America, so it can't be part of its doctrine to take control of America through violence or deception. However, there are those (such as the Qutbi, Salafists, the Wahabi, and the other Jihadists) that are opposed, even violently, to all other religions (including other Sunni Muslims). Naturally, they do have some influence on the worlds large Muslim population. Basically, just like within Christianity, there are many groups of Muslims. We have Protestants (and the hundreds of denominations included therein), Roman Catholics, Eastern Orthodox, Morman's, Jehovah's Witnesses, Messianic Jews, Unitarians, etc; who all often consider themselves Christians. Just some info FYI.

Yes, in recent history, many attacks perpetrated on American's have been by people claiming to be Muslim. However, many of the people attacking the US are also from Asia and Africa. Perhaps, the political leaders their use religion as a tool to stir up the people against a country they see as invading their homes.
Another thing to look at is that almost all of the people who have ever attacked or fought against America throughout history have been men. Maybe that is the pattern. Maybe we need to have all males prove that they don't intend to destroy America through violence or deception.
America was founded with three express purposes: economic freedom, political freedom, and religious freedom. The settlers who founded America were escaping religious persecution from other Christians in Europe, for the most part. The Founding Fathers put the First Amendment into the Bill of Rights, partially to ensure that America would not interfere with people's freedom of religion.
We absolutely need to protect this country from outside threats, whether Muslim or any other. However, to lump all Muslims in with the extremists would be inaccurate. Think of any Muslims that you know or used to know personally. Were they attempting to destroy America and establish a Caliphate and kill all non-Muslims?
These are the people that need to be in America, where they can hear the Gospel, and see it lived out everyday.

According to Wikipedia
"Those behind the project, the American Society for Muslim Advancement and the Cordoba Initiative, claim it is intended to foster better relations between Islam and the West. In an interview, Daisy Khan said: "We decided we wanted to look at the legacy of 9/11 and do something positive." She added that her group represents moderate Muslims who want "to reverse the trend of extremism and the kind of ideology that the extremists are spreading". Pointing to the fact that ordinary Muslims have been killed by Muslim extremists all over the world, Khan also said about the mosque, "For us it is a symbol... that will give voice to the silent majority of Muslims who suffer at the hands of extremists. A center will show that Muslims will be part of rebuilding lower Manhattan."

Sorry, for the long rambling post. Love you!

Ephesians 10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.

19 Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.

May God give us spiritual eyes to see along with supernatural understanding and wisdom in these tumultuous days.
