The garden of eden is eaten by bugs.

Let's compare the locusts in Exodus 10 with those in Joel 1 shall we ?

Someone else start because I'm a bit perplexed. Was this the same event or not ?

Not the same event. The locusts in Exodus came against Pharoah in Egypt when he wouldn't let God's people go. That was before God gave Moses any of the laws and ordinances for the people to follow.

Joel refers to the Israelites disobedience to God and is a warning of the consequenses of disobedience as well as a plea to return to Him.

Well Edie, You agree with my pastor. It just seems like they are both saying they are one time events that's why it confuses me.

I understand. So then, the real question is, why does it appear to be saying that it has never happened before.

I say this because the Bible is clear that in Exodus the locusts are brought against Pharoah in Egypt, and in Joel 1 the locusts are brought against the Israelites long after they had been delivered from Eqypt.

In the New Living Translation it is translated this way.

Exodus: Never in the history of Egypt have your ancestors seen a plague like this one!” And with that, Moses turned and left Pharaoh.

Joel 1: The Lord gave this message to Joel son of Pethuel.
Hear this, you leaders of the people. Listen, all who live in the land. In all your history, has anything like this happened before?

It is my understanding that it is something that had never happened within those nations not worldwide.

Now I see dimly as if looking into a shiny piece of metal I use as a mirror. But someday I shall see clearly and understand completely.
