How a man should treat his wife.

A man is to love his wife as Christ loves the Church. Since Christ gave up His life for us that means a man is to give up his life for his wife. Now giving up ones' life does not have to mean that he physically dies, instead it means that he no longer lives to please himself. He quits focusing on his own desires and thinks about what is best for his wife. He studies her to know what her needs are and to learn how to communicate with her. It does not mean that he gives in to her demands or that he gives her everything she asks for. He does not attempt to meet her every want but her every need. He is in a position over her between her and God. He is not to hinder her direct relationship with God but rather encourage it. He is to have a right relationship with God so that he will learn some things from God that he can than teach his wife.
