Crazy electronic car door locks.

having a little trouble with the door locks on my Datsun 280ZX. The driver's door won't unlock unless the passenger door is already unlocked. So whenever I want to drive it I have to go around to the passenger side and unlock that door first and then I go back to the driver's side and I can unlock the door with the key. I don't mind doing this but I'm afraid that someday it will quit working altogether and I'll be locked out of my car. I hope the newer cars have better door locks then the ones from 1980. Oh well at least the 8 track player still works.
