Voluntary Taxation.

I've been working on my plan to privatize those parts of the federal government that should not be paid for by extortion of tax dollars from the citizens but rather by voluntary contributions from the willing. My original plan was to spin of departments and give each citizen shares in the new private companies. Give the companies severance pay to keep them going for a couple of years and let them hope they can get enough financial support after that from either making a profit or convincing the willing to donate. My new plan calls for more competition. Let there be a tax deduction for anyone who contributes to an organization that duplicates a service that the federal government provides. Cut funding of the federal programs across the board but allow tax deductable contributions to individual programs or departments within the federal Government. As for how much to cut the budget lets put it to a vote of the People. in order to fund any department to a certain level they must get a super majority of the vote. The people can vote a dollar amount that they are willing to set the budget at. Even broke folk get an equal vote. The rate(s) of taxation is a separate matter.

Very interesting. Did you pass this idea along to your congressman?
